I’ve always wondered what were the preparations and tasks taken into consideration in order to achieve a fantastic fashion show, the number of specialists on each task behind the runway that sweat their guts to attain perfection, how things roll behind the stage where all the center of attention takes place, how models prepare themselves beforehand,……. And so much more.
Let’s put those never ending questions aside because I brought you the real thing: freshly baked designs that were pulled off the runway. After a week of following and seeing every collection in New York Fashion Week, it was really hard to pick my favorites but I did my best in abridging the huge list. So here are my picks:
I have to confess! Badgley mishka was one of the designers I had a really hard time with when picking some favorites because it was a really lovely collection. As you can see the first two dresses are all about the gold embroidery that goes oh so well with the beautiful blue and gold colors. The third look is a perfect ensemble of a gold top and black over the knee skirt. The fourth dress is also exquisite but the fifth dress is just so cute with the lace sleeves and the Oxford collar. Last but not least, this beautiful gown might be mistaken for a coat! With its fur collar and gold details on the side it is sure to impress any classy and elegant lady.
I loved all of BCBGMAXAZRIA’s collection, but what I liked the most is that colorful fur coat and Lacey detail white dress.
Carolina Herrera’s runway was the place to be during fashion week this year! Those are the dresses I liked the most out of the whole collection. The first one has some sunflower prints. I would have never thought that kind of print would go so well on a serious dress as this one. The second has that lovely green colored fur coat. And the third is just a masterpiece PERIOD!
DKNY did a great job in color blocking this collection. Many colors appeared on the runway like blue, burgundy, brown, black, and white.
My second confession of the day: I am madly in love with J.Crew!! Wow! That collection is just amazing! Loved the patters, plaid, and most of all the colors that were really refreshing!
Lacoste was all about keeping it casual in comfortable color coordinated dresses and outfits.
Marc Jacobs loves pajama cloth and textures! He used the cloth for all sorts of clothing pieces: from really short shorts to dresses, shirts, and skirts! And I have to tell you that I really like it too!
Naeem Khan took embroidery to a whole new level. All I have to say is that it was a great collection.
Ralph Lauren was all about adopting the weaving technique in his latest collection and it’s classy and elegant at the same time.
Reem Acra was the star of fashion week. I saved the best for last. Reem Acra never ceases to surprise me with an exquisite and unique collection one after the other. What I loved in this collection are the layerings of tule fabrics and colorful embellishments and sheer details.
It is sure that the most obvious trends for fall 2013 are fur that we saw on every runway, silk(seen at Marc Jacobs, Carolina Herrera), colors, and daring prints(J.Crew).
